Joseph G. Yeasted, PhD, PE
Dr. Yeasted has over 40 years of environmental experience, with expertise in environmental remediation, environmental due diligence, and financial risk modeling. His experience spans national leadership of the engineering practice for one of the nation’s largest environmental firms; program management for precedent-setting and technically complex DOE, DOD, and EPA environmental programs; and technical leadership on 40 environmental liability transfer contracts with commercial clients that represented $550 million in remediation obligations. Under the latter contracts, Dr. Yeasted applied probabilistic financial risk models that used decision tree and Monte-Carlo techniques to evaluate future liability scenarios at more than 100 major environmental remediation sites nationwide, which allowed his employer to contractually assume full statutory and regulatory responsibility for the contaminated sites in perpetuity for a fixed price. He also led negotiations with insurance underwriters to defend the technical strategy, price, and risk profile so as to secure risk-protective environmental policies.
Dr. Yeasted graduated with a BA in Mathematics from St. Vincent College, a BS and MS in Civil Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, and a PhD in Civil Engineering and Water Resources from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
